USA is Off to the QUARTERFINALS – 3 Highlights, Things We’d Like to See & More

By  |

After a 2-0 victory over Colombia, #teamUSA will match up against China on Friday in the quarterfinals @ 7pm ET on FOX!

1. Abby Wambach missed the USA’s first chance at getting ahead in the game when missing a left foot penalty kick in the 48th minute:

2. Alex Morgan with the United States first goal in the 53rd minute. Wonderful sequence of passes before finishing in the lower near-post.

3. Megan Rapinoe fowled in the box in the 65th minute and Carli Lloyd stepped up to successfully finish the penalty kick.

With more speed than China, the US should stick to their strengths of staying organized defensively, keeping the ball in the midfield and setting up one-on-one situations for speedy forwards Alex Morgan, Christen Press and Sydney Leroux.

Things we would like to see from Team USA:

  • Shots from distance
  • Finishing chances off direct/indirect kicks
  • Not missing PK’s 😉
